mad_docs_of_lit Mar. 13th, 2011 11:48 am)Well, the ghosts have almost had their hour. We had so many fantastic contributions for 'Ghosts' that we extended the time a little for that theme. Now, to wrap up, The Mad Doctors are proud to announce the winner of our Fantastic Phantom Photo Contest.
We actually couldn't choose between the awesome entries we got, so we rolled a dice to let the fates decide! And the winner is...

“And they say that on dark nights, if you glance through the window, you might see a face looking back at you through the glass.”
“It’s true, I’ve seen it myself!”
“Even after all these years?”
“Even after all these years,” Justine says, “but you only see them at night.”
Annette shudders, theatrically. A sudden tantrum of wind rattles the window casement beside her head. “It’s scary. Is that why we don’t go into the coffee house anymore?”
“Yes,” says Martin, “I miss the coffee house. It’s been centuries.” His tone carries with it a definite grudge.
Justine shakes her head, her ringlets bobbing. “We all miss it, but they have taken it over now. Just look through the window.”
Through the window is a shock of light and colour. Groups of men and women sit together around tables, laughing together over bottles and tall glasses of drink. One girl catches Martin’s eye through the window and quickly looks away, shaking her head rapidly as if embraced by a surprise draught. Martin asks,
“What if we just went back in?”
“We can’t just go back in,” Justine says, but she sounds less than certain and already the others are nodding in agreement with Martin.
“It’s so obvious. We’ll just go back in. It was our place first; we have a right to be here. They’ll just have to share.” And Martin places a translucent hand on the bar door.
